Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.
Please introduce yourselves in this thread. Try to mention your basics (name, where you're from, where you go to school, majors, etc) and possibly what you wish to attain from using these forums.
I'll start off! My name is Pally and I am a member of the SFU SSA. I'm majoring in Economics and I'm in my 3rd/4th'ish year.
I've been very interested in getting involved with SSA since I started out at SFU 3 years ago, but I only became more deeply involved this past summer. So far, I'm very proud to be a member of an organization where individuals share the same passions and optimism, concerning Sikhi and its youth, as I do.
And I hope that I can step away from these boards with more knowledge on Sikhism through the help of you all, as well as some answers to Sikhi-related questions. Overall, I think it will be some good times!
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.

Hi
My name is Gurinder Samra, Im a 3rd year Cell Biology major (still might do mbb major or minor).
This is my 3rd year with the SSA but they really havent been doing as much as they should have been before. It has gotten much better now. Plus, the meetings didnt really have a time frame (ie. have a meeting every 3-5 weeks ... not good enough).
The Conferences were always great tho.
This year, I feel as if the SSA is doing more than other years ... but I may not be the best person to say that because I didnt really do as much as I should have.
The main reason for me to be here is to gain knowledge and hopefully help back for our community. Its too often that the youth get a bad rep and hopefully we can be instrumental in changing the tide.

Hey,
My name is Harman Toor. I am a Business Major, concentrating in Finance and Marketing (most likely). I have been a member of the SSA for 3 years now, iv'e seen the progression and this year seems to be the culmination of a lot of hard work and determination.
Things are looking good for the SSA, so lets try to keep the momentum going with forums like this and more events.
I look forward to getting to know everybody and continuing to see the SSA grow.

Hello mates,
I'm Baljinder Singh Dhillon aka Vic (long story) and I'm a 3rd/4th year Business major concentrating in Finance/Accounting and possibly International Business - still not sure, should have it decided by the end of this semester.
I've been in the SSA for more than 3 years now and I've been through the ups and downs. Throughout those years, I've had many roles. Two semesters ago (end of Spring 06), I was presented with an opportunity to make some changes in how things were operated compared to previous years, and together with all of the team members and Guru's grace, we've managed to instill a new attitude and enthusiasm into what we're doing and there's a lot of positive things happening as a result.
I want the SSA to succeed because I know the huge impact religion has had in my life, and even if one person leaves this semester saying they've learned something valuable about Sikhism- that they can ultimately apply to their lives- that would be a huge accomplishment.

Hey guys,
Looks like you guys have a lot of experience with the SSA from past semesters and years. I never really formally joined the SSA. I went to SFU Surrey and did my degree there in Interactive Arts and Technology. Two reasons why I wasn't able to join, I was to lazy to go to main campus and join. I didn't have any classes there. Two, no one ever came to Surrey campus. It was a bad thing on my part for being lazy and same for SSA.
But hopefully now things can change. There are a lot more Sikh oriented students at the Surrey campus (I'd say close to 100 students) that can join.
Satnam, Vic and Parm have done a good job, and other members like Harman have taken charge and are getting things done.

Hey all,
I'm Ravi Rai. I'm in my 3rd/4th year studying Business planning to concentrate in Fiance, IB and HR.
I've been on the SSA mailing list since I first started at SFU, however, I never really got involved because it was usually quite inconvenient. Anyways, hopefully that'll change. I'm hoping SSA will be an opportunity to learn from other members, make an impact in our community and network with others that want to make a change.
