Hey guys I just have a question about walking around the Guru Granth Sahib Ji during the lavan. Is it a Sikh tradition or a cultural one? Also, is the man supposed to walk in front, or can either person lead? The reason I'm asking is because I recently went to a wedding and someone made a speech about why the man walks in front, and I disagreed with what was said. I didn't talk to him about it, though, because I don't know The way I see it is that it doesn't matter who walks in front. A man and woman both have equal status in a marriage. Both of their souls are united with one another, and with God. So, I don't see the relevance of defining why a male or female is supposed to do X or Y. But like I said, I'm unsure.
