It seems in ALL religions not one but every single religion you look at god is looked at as some living creature in a higher place looking down at us. God is perceived as being somthing higher than ourselves and we perceive god to be outside of ourselves which to me is one of the biggest mistakes any living being can make. In this reality we live in we are all but one being with many faces living in one mind. This one entity lives through all animate and inanimate, physical and spiritual we are all microcosms of one great whole macrocosm. Knowing this and knowing that we are all the same energy and that energy is but the one "all pervading god." We can then realize that god is not some being above us that is going to punish us for our sins and reward us for our merits. This higher energy is the conciousness that gives us life within our own beating hearts. When I see the vast majority of people who see god as some entity outside themselves and do not acknowledge themselves as part of the one whole I wonder what in the name of god are they praying for? If you aren't praying to that energy inside yourself which is the true nature of your being you are just throwing all of that shakti away because you are perceiving god through your own ego everytime you see it as either a "him" or somthing outside of yourself.
Now I was born into a Sikh family but I have always been open to learning from any philosophical scripture I can. I don't remember quotes of gurus and spit them out nor do I understand why people follow rules set by ANY religion without questioning the reason? There is always a reason for why we do somthing and if you do not know why you perform certain rituals in religion and you just do it "because" you follow dogma. Think of it this way how well is a math student going to do on his test if his teacher tells him 5 multiplied by 5 is 25 but he doesn't even know how to multiply? religion and science are not two opposites and spirituality is not somthing that cannot be explained rationally we live in a society that lies about such things which is the reason why you see over half of our world population involved in one religion or another but none reaching enlightenment... These philosophies were at one point developed by beautiful souls with only love for their fellow humans but over time methods get distorted and the true spiritual energy will be lost to a bunch of intellectual facts... Much like the game most elementry school kids play when the children line up and a sentence is told to one person who tells it to the next and by the end of this line of children the whole story is not the same as it was when it started...
It makes me wonder because I see so many people attending the gurdawaras and they are very respectful inside those walls. Once a lot of these people leave they go back to abusing their fellow man and not only that while I was in amritsar I saw a giani kick a dog which made me wonder... Such a holy city and god being all pervading in all... If these people loved god so much they would not hurt anything even another animal because the energy of god pervades us all human, animal, plant every physical object it's all energy the same energy which is the god you pray to in religion so what hope is there when people are abusing others and claiming to love "god" makes no sense to me.
Now people can study they can read what the gurus say in scriptures and learn but simply quoting and remembering words is not going to get anyone anywere. Practical aspects of meditation need to be involved, without meditation involved in religion it is just a set of rules that humans will never be able to live up to. The name of god repeated in simran is great meditation but even then most people never find the teacher to tell them to chant with their heart and not just their throat. Without intention and love for the energy inside yourself while doing such practices no luck will come, no advancement nothing... People love to hear what happens after death from a great saint, they'll beleive what sombody in a higher rank will tell them but they will never go look for themselves at what really lies in this reality of existence we live in. When every human being is equal what is the use in looking to the greater people to answer our questions we have the answers within ourselves. Why beleive? why hold beliefs when they aren't proven by yourself? why hold faith and beleif in somthing that is told to us? Why not keep an open mind leave your cup empty at all times to absorb whatever truths there could be in this world by listening to all theorys and then experiencing for yourself?
All of this yoga, witchcraft anything magickal is looked down upon by people in religion... They think it is evil, how is it evil when we are all energy and these talents are all within us anyways, infact most people use them without even realizing it. You look at great saints who manage to attain mystical powers and that's okay but when sombody else has them it must be bad? Again we are all one being as long as that is known and the fact that we are all energy underneath this physical shell we live in with many bodies to explore many realms with how can such feats be evil? The truth of such feats are they come whether looked for or not, they are flag poles on the way to finding that great "god" you look for. Now you cannot attain "moksha" "freedom from being reborn." If you do not become one with the source within yourself and totally melt your ego which is the bubble seperating you from the infinite. Now if anyone becomes truly one with this great source which is the goal think about this logically, you will have any power you wish you will be capable of anything because you are totally plugged in with the source and you have become an avatar such as nanak, krishna, buddha or jesus. The goal of each religion is to reach their status not hold them as status symbols, we are all capable of reaching it but we are told only certain few are "born" to reach this height of perfection it's a lie. Using these powers and developing them to have power over others is evil and immoral because by hurting sombody else you are inturn hurting yourself "we are all one." These powers are inevitable on the path to the higher self (god). To fear this is to fear part of yourself which is asking to go higher to become more and it is turning back from the first flagpole to god.
All religions are beautiful their scriptures are great... but the mistake of the people is to perceive the great being, the one being to be outside of the self. To make that mistake is to fall from the path of god and to only reach ego and remain here never to reach the "moksha." Just makes me sad, I know a lot of people on this site might know this stuff already but to walk out amongst this society and have to hide what I truly am because people fear the supernatural but love god? haha the supernatural is god my friends and everyone is a part of this one great play without love for everything you truly have no love for god because to love god is to love all...
