Well, I guess here it goes. I have a lot to say about this person
The reasons why I dislike him are numerous; I'll start off with what he has ruined:
- the economy
- science
- the environment
- American policy
- human rights
- American respect around the world and within
the list goes on..
Bush started off with the greatest surplus in American history, and yet he turned it into the greatest deficit in history, yes 9/11 is partially to blame for this but his decisions before and after have contributed to this as well.
Science: Well, there are several things to talk about here; from his lack of beliefs in global warming to his defiance of research on stem cells to his new visions for NASA bush has effectively ruined science. Numerous sources have said that Bush and his administration have doctored the papers of credible scientists and thus effectively killing the voice of the academia in his country. He continues to not believe in global warming when the entire scientific community unanimously approves of Global Warming's existence. His admin gives voice to those scientists with whom he shares similar points of views with. In the stem cell issue Bush claims to be the first president to effectively give funding towards research. Well yes that is correct because stem cell research was not really prevalent during any other presidency, and yet the stem cells on which research may be conducted are in fact infected and useless according to the scientists that research them.
Habeas corpus abolished? Yes the Patriot acts effectively allow the government to imprison you and hold you without charges, basic privacy rights are diminished in Bush's America. Bush's track record on human rights is just disgusting. To the press and his citizens he claims that America does not condone torture, and yet one has to look no further than Abu Ghraib or the stories of water boarding, or the physical and mental assault given to the detainees, including the desecration of the Quran at the illegal prison at Guantanamo Bay. The detainees are not given the privileges of the Geneva Conventions, they are held without cause, they are not given a lawyer and are told they can go to trail only if they are willing to confess that they are Al Queda. An intelligent president would have never allowed such a facility to exist in the first place, Guantanamo bay is an insult to America and the fabric of its constitution.
Bush as effectively turned his country into the dreadful world that George Orwell speaks of in his 1984. If you criticize his policies you are deemed unpatriotic and in an alliance with the terrorists. By running a state of fear he is able to pass laws that otherwise would have never been passed, he is able to harness support to attack countries that had no link with terrorism, he is able to hurt the moral grounds upon which his nation was founded.
The war in Iraq was clearly an illegal war, his administration rushed into the country before the UN Security council's members could effectively use the powers bestowed in them to veto an illegal occupation. An occupation which had three main contexts:
- Saddam Hussein bought nuclear material from Nigeria.
- Saddam was manufacturing weapons of mass destruction.
- There was a definite link between Saddam and Al Queda.
We now know that none of these to be true; actually most of us knew that none of these were true before the invasion began.
His administration planned a two month war; as we all know Bush went to an aircraft carrier on May 1st 2003 and effectively said 'Mission Accomplished.' What mission? The mission to leave Iraq in a sea of chaos and disarray? History itself has not taught Bush a lesson, like President Johnson's Vietnam, Bush's Iraq are essentially the same thing, however Johnson was smart enough to declare victory and run out. Bush has declared victory and stayed put in his quagmire.
Bush is responsible for the deaths of over 2800 American servicemen, over 600 000 Iraqis, how can one say these are not crimes against humanity itself?
Bush himself should be put towards the courts of The Hague alongside with Saddam Hussein, Slobodan Milosevic and the henchmen of the Third Reich.
This president and his administration are a travesty of American values, an insult to the founding fathers of America.
Gone are the days of America being 'the land of the free and the home of the brave'
Sorry for the long post, my anger towards this administration is rather unfathomable.
