I dont think it should bother anyone. Gays can be respected the same as everyone because they also have the same amount of strengths and weaknesses as everyone else.

I personally don't think there is anything wrong with being gay. Gay people are just like you and me! For example: apparently from my grad class three guys turned out Gay...only one of them was actually (stereotypically) gay. Yeah and another fun fact ;D
1 out of every 10 people are gay ... soooooo someone on this forum is bound to be gay...who is it?
And as for the gayness being genetic...wtf is that all about I want some concrete evidense people...ie. a Gay gene. And if this "Gay gene" exists, why arn't the parents bi...my logic here is, if it's recessive then they must be somewhat gay...so yeah I think it being purely genetic is a bunch of bs...being molested as a child on the other hand sounds like a more valid reason to me ;D

what are you trying to say here? People become gay because of a traumatic event in their life?... what, so if they weren't molested they would be "normal"

I think that was naive to say and I agree with Sharon. What happens to your logic after you answer her questions??

What if I was molested as a child, am I in denial by being in a relationship? Have I not come to terms with it? What about those that weren't molested but are still "gay"?

And I don't think its true that 1/10 people are gay. "Pretend" gay maybe but I think the number is more like 1/1000.

No...i'm saying its due to a sexually traumatic even that they become gay And yes...they would be normal...I don't think anybody would be "normal" if they were molested...well unless they liked it but even then its like wth

Well I don't think it was naive to say...my logic sticks...if you were molested as a child most likely it was by the opposite sex, which would make you deteste them and sex being a fundamental part of life...you would seek it with your own sex.
And if it is done by someone of the same sex and you turn out gay...well its obvious you enjoyed it
As for the people that are just "gay" well those people must have 2 recessive "gay genes"

Man oh man... this is getting out of hand.. no child ever wants to be molested. Plus how can you prove that gayness does in fact come as a result from child molesting?? Its a sad reality that MANY children do get molested.. but that does NOT make them inevitably gay! That remark is outrageous! I agree that the children may be hostile to that other sex for a while.. and thus would need to go through extensive therapy but it doesn't mean that they will end up being homosexual!

My opinion on homosexuals is that at the end of the day.. they are humans and deserve the right to be treated equally. If we start discriminating against homosexuals then we have no right to fight for our rights as a minority group as we are going against the Canadian Charter of Human Rights and Freedom. What gives us the right to say whats normal and whats not? By being homophobic, we are no better than the racists, sexist, pedophiles etc. This ignorance needs to be overcome by education and understanding.

I hope I have not offended anyone by any of my comments, these are just my opinions and views.

Anyway back to the topic:

Earlier a couple of you were arguing about the percentages of gay people in society, the site www.avert.org/hsexu1.htm has some information that you might find interesting, keep in mind that it was a British survey and may not reflect the percentages of gay people in North America. The Indo-Canadian community, being a rather traditionalist/conservative community I would think that the percentage would be far less.

Also earlier there was discussion about homosexuality being a choice or genetic. However it is well known that animals are in fact gay, I don't understand why an animal would purposely chose to be gay (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homosexuality#Homosexual_behavior_in_animals), they are after all not capable of the thought processes that we are capable of. Personally I believe that the main cause of homosexuality is a genetic mutation, not genetics themselves, and your life's experiences can contribute to your choice.
