I'm not at all impressed with rookie Luc Bourdon... i dono what happened to him, but he sure isn't the same kid from last year's training camp. Maybe it's the age thing (too young-19) or the fact that he has a lot of pressure on him to perform even better this year. But whatever it is, it's ruining his game. Because of his one screw up, it cost us a goal... and Vigneault sat him out the rest of the game. I say it's back to juniors for this kid. He'll be a great D-man one day, but not today. Another concern for me is Morrison. I dono what's up with him... but I miss the "old Mo"... it might be too early, but him and Cooke haven't found their spark yet... I hope they find it soon, for Mo's sake. I really like him, and I hate to see him in a slum like this. Other game notes: Kevin Bieksa was awesome today... 1 goal, 3 points. I was very pleased with his game... really stepped it up from the D and proved that it's not just the "Ikea Line" doing all the work. Ohlund also helped with one goal. *BUT, Bieksa certainly can't replace Salo... they clearly missed him on the blueline today when Bieksa kept MISSING THE GOD DAMN NET! lol Speaking of the Ikea Line, don't they just give you the jitters?! Oh man, that 4on4 with Danny and Henny... GOAL! and within seconds of them hitting the ice. Total awesomeness.

You just reminded me of so many points of i forgot to mention 1. Yes, Bourdon was just bad. Everytime I see him out there he looks nervous or something, right now he just sucks. 2. Mo...yeah what's up, last year too. 3. Yes I think all 5 games Bieksa has been really good, I think he improved ALOT during off-season. 4. Eh, we need salo, bad. Just his presence at the point on the powerplay is frightning, we coulda really used him on that useless 5 on 3 that ended up being a goal (on a bad breakaway) for SJ

this was a good game for the canucks because it is a wake up call. they got their behinds beat infront of their home fans. its better to get rid of these hard-choking games now instead at the end of the season.
young bourdon was benched the 3rd period and for good reason. you cant ask a young 19 year old pup to be 4th best defensemen on a team. He needs another season in the farm league to strengthen his play.

good game tonight.
they really worked hard tonight, good grinding play.
Ohlund had his most impressive game yet, I hope there's more to come of that... even Mo had a bit of a spark.
I'm just happy to have my Salo back. And with one goal, thank you very much ;D

Good game last night...I fell asleep during the first 4 mins of the game...didn't have enough energy to watch it.
Hightlights this morning were good. Salo is a monster on both end of the ice. That is one shot I wouldn't want to block, no wonder some call him the Finnish MacInnis.
Nucks putting pressure in the 3rd period with a one goal lead? Who would have knew!
Today, another good ol' back to back Canucks @ Oilers 6pm

Ahh yes, yesterday I had hockey than had major migrane while watching the game so I didn't feel like doing my recap/period stats (like the previous game).
I thought it was an awesome game, non stop action (well, atleast for 55 mins). I though Canucks dominated espeically in the third period when the needed to shut them down.

Well, back to the summaries First Period SummaryScoreCanucks - 0 Oilers - 2 PenaltiesCanucks - 0/2 Edmonton - 0/2 (third coming in the second) Time In Opposing End (Gonna shorten this to TOE next time ) All Edmonton first, then in between Canucks, then back to Edmonton. I'd say even, maybe 12/8 Edmonton. Heh, Saverign or w/e, nice debut. 2 goals on 3 shots, nice! Wasn't very good, looked like it was going to be a blowout, however he did calm down. He started actually stopping the pucks midway through the period but I'm not looking forward to the rest of the game, or the rest of the games he'll play throughout the season. Who knows maybe he's a premeir backup goalie and it's just a bad game (maybe just period ). But from what I've seen, no wonder he's 0-4 in the NHL. And wow Naslund takes a penalty and Oilers will be on the PP to start the second. If you look at the replay, Naslund just put his stick beside the guy and he just fell, but Markus should know if you put your stick up into the guy, and he falls, it's the lonely glide to the sin bin for you . Ahhhhh, it was like starting the game down 2-0, and with no secondary scoring (that we've seen thus far) it seems like the most goals we'll get is 2 a game. However, you never know; I BELIEVE!!!Second Period SummaryScoreCanucks - 0 Oilers - 2 PenaltiesCanucks - 0/3 Edmonton - 0/6 (7th coming in the third) Time In Opposing End Well, 4 full powerplays (three actually, but half of one from the first, and another half that'll be finished in the third, so 4) So atleast half was at Canucks end. No score this period, 4 powerplays for the Oilers, they should have captilized and ended it. I thought Saberiegn was much better, and so was Markkanen. All in all, an average period, but average isn't good enough when you are down 2 goals and only have 1 period left. The thing that bugged me was the special teams officiating. I hate complaining about the penalty calls, I hate it; it's just an excuse. However, this game I thought Canucks were getting called for everything, but it was a double-standard when the came to calling penalties on the Oilers. I know I'm probably just thinking this way because I'm a Canuck fan, but usually I try to be neutral when it comes to things like that. I always will call when it should be a penalty (or shouldn't) for either team. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, but I thought it wasn't fair, so many penalty kills, just 1 powerplay? And wow, the Canucks' PK...just wow! Third/Final Period SummaryScoreCanucks - 1 Oilers - 2 PenaltiesCanucks - 1/7? Edmonton - 0/8? Kinda lost count, Canucks got 3 more I believe. Time In Opposing End Pretty much all Canucks. I'd say 15/5 (because of penalties) Well, it seems like between the second and third period, the referees logged onto the forum and saw my summary , Canucks got the powerplays to even it out. I thought a 5 on 3 was enough to atleast get a goal, but they didn't, the puck just go in the net. I take my excuse away, the refs did even it out. I thought it was an excellent period, but Markkanen was even more excellent and kept the Nucks off the board until the end. It was a good period, but one period isn't enough and that was the ultimate factor for the L. Only thing we can do is hope for a W on Friday vs the Blues.

It is Sabourin and debut .... not day view.
9 shots after 2 doesnt cut it, especially after yesterday's performance (29 after 2).

Sabourin: 2 goals on 3 shots is totally not kool. First shot of the game=goal. Totally not kool. But I give it to the kid for the rest of the game, he got his game somewhat back. He looked soooo unbelievably nervous, and I guess he was entitled to (first game; backup to a "great" goalie, etc.) Personally, if I was Vigneult, I would have put Sabourin in up against one of the non-division rival teams... i.e one of the games coming up next week. BUT, i could never be Vigneult because he's too much of an IDIOT!... HOW DARE HE NOT PUT LINDEN IN THE LINE UP?!!!It was the FIRST TIME Linden was a healthy scratch as a Canuck. That's really gotta hurt his ego... but, being the big guy he is... the one that is willing to do anything for his team, I'm guessing he took it as a positive, thinking that it will allow him to rest up and be much better for Friday's game. I understand Linden wasn't on his game for the past 2 games... giving away pucks, not being able to clear the puck... but he's Linden. The ultimate Canuck. No one does that to Linden. Vigneult is on my "list" now... he better be extra good if he wants out. I dono about Friday... we all know how we do with St.Louis. I think it's a curse... but perhaps as we do Kirtan, the curse shall be broken.
